The Story
60 Years of Story
In 1965, a man went up the mountain.
Father Archer Torrey laid down his position as dean of St. Michael's Seminary and chose a remote valley in Gangwon Province. There, he prayed, worked the land, and lived in community.
Sixty years later, the bell still rings on that mountain.
The small community that began at the foot of Mt. Deokhang has continued for sixty years in the rhythm of prayer and labor. Some things have changed, and some have not. More has remained unchanged.
